Traditional Education Under-Serves Neurodivergent Needs
Your child can understand more through reading, spelling and speech, just maybe not in the way their school is currently offering. Finding the right method to connect the meaning of sounds within words can make all the difference in increasing reading comprehension.
In formidable years, dyslexic children in elementary school often hit a point of separation caused by the tendency to not gain autonomy or expression in comparable ways to their peers.
This most often leads to these students feeling displaced, frustrated, not enough or left out.
Tutoring That Works. Informed by Your Dyslexic Child, Not For A Standard Curriculum.
Your child can be fluent in reading without struggle.
The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS®) Program takes a multi-level approach to developing understanding. Unlike with the general school system, your child will understand the physical characteristics of sounds within words - helping them develop their own crucial awareness of meaning through language specific to their style of approach to the world.
Rather than using memory, we focus on the body’s association to these words creating a greater impact to meaning while helping activate understanding and connection to words.
This develops a child that can recognize crucial signage, has the ability for autonomy (like menu ordering), and can comprehend and retain stories and writing - awakening new worlds of connection, communication and imagination.

A Guide to Your Child’s Success
Shannon Jenkins, Tutor and Lesson Plan Specialist for Neurodivergent Learners
When it comes to education for neurodivergent learners, reading comprehension is just the beginning. For many, self-regulation and identity are common concerns when it comes to helping guide to their potential.
At the age of twelve, I had a major identity shift from ‘normal’ to disabled after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The sudden experience of being an amputee, learning to walk again, advocating for myself, and being differently-abled, or "adaptive," deeply informs this educational style.
Your child’s success in life depends on adapting to approaches that fit them, not the standard. Through our work together, each student can reach the type of autonomy necessary for them. They just need a different approach - one that works for them - with more adaptive styles that help them achieve their true capabilities without victimization, separation or feeling different.
Since 1999 I have worked with countless neurodivergent learners, from my time as a Tutor and Lesson Plan Developer with Lindamood-Bell® Learning Processes and clinics on the west and east coast.
Working in their Washington, D.C. and Berkeley, CA clinics for four years, I learned, intimately, the foundations of the successful techniques being employed to help claim the potential of individuals throughout the world. From there, I worked as a tutor, lesson plan developer, and trainer. In 2003, I had the amazing opportunity to run a private practice inside (the prestigious) The Listening Center in Walnut Creek, CA.
By working together I bring 23 years of experience working with children and families and I have also been trained in multiple processes, models and techniques

02
CUSTOM LEARN IN A WAY THAT WORKS
Dyslexia occurs as a divergent way of approaching the world. Through this understanding, each child is approached in a way that is significant for them, not a curriculum. Each student will be guided through 20 sessions for developmental progress.
03
READ FLUENTLY & RETAIN KEY CONCEPTS
Your child can enjoy reading and school. Through private LiPS training, your dyslexic student will begin to retain valuable concepts and connections to words, in ways that work for their way of viewing the world and themselves.
Independence Through Reading
As a caregiver to a dyslexic student, you likely know they are capable of understanding and reaching more places within and without themselves through reading, without the added work and frustration they take on today. You’d like them to find their own autonomy - the ability to read fluently at, or over, grade-level while understanding more of the world around them.
As a caregiver to a dyslexic student you also know that the traditional school system is not typically the place for divergent learning.
As a person that perceives outside the standards of traditional schools, your child need only look for ways that work for them. Through my application of LiPS® training, we’ll apply an already highly effective method with custom learning and insights into what will allow your child to draw valuable connections to language and while opening up their connection with the world.
